You must be at least 16 years old and attend a Volunteer Program info session to apply for the Volunteer Program. Wild Bunch volunteers are needed to assist with special events throughout the year. Volunteer appreciation parties, community events and fundraisers are always fun to attend and participate in. We are always on the lookout for passionate individuals with skills in any of the following areas: Fund Development The Board of Directors volunteer their time and are active in sponsoring Friends core programs and committees to support the needs of the animals for the Folsom Zoo Sanctuary. This is an opportunity to help our guests develop a deeper understanding of wildlife and habitat by truly involving them in the dialogue.Tour: Provide tours on specific bioclimatic zones at the zoo, specific animals and more. Ambassador Roving Shifts: Actively greet and help guests enjoy their visit by giving directions, answering questions, pointing out animals and sharing your passion for the zoo!Community Outreach: Engage with the public and assist staff at community festivals and events outside of the zoo. The objects on the cart are thematically developed and encourage connecting everyone to nature, increasing ecological literacy and providing clear pathways to conservation. Animal Nutrition Center volunteers assist the Zoo’s nutritionist in the preparation of animal diets.
